Starting a Janitorial Business: The Bidding Process

When starting a janitorial business, you may have to go through a bidding process in order to get work. Even though bidding for jobs can be intimidating, there is no need to be afraid of the process. Here are the basics of the bidding process and what you should expect from it.

Bidding Work

Most large janitorial jobs are awarded on a bid basis. This means that you are going to have to bid against other janitorial companies in order to secure the contract. This is typical when you are working with bigger companies that are going to provide you with a lot of work. In order to win the bid, you are going to have to have the lowest prices in most cases. You will typically have to fill out a simple bid form that provides the company with prices on all of the services that you offer.

When you bid the job, you want to be as competitive as possible. This is not the time to try to make large profit margins. The most important thing is to secure the contract. Therefore, you want to price your bid as closely to your cost as you can. If you still lose the bid, you will at least know that you did not bid incorrectly.
